Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, 63 year old, was complaining of acute stomach ache and he was flew in from Lucknow to admit him at the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi, at around 6 a.m., on 28 November. Hospital authorities refused to divulge any details but confirmed that his condition was not serious.
Amitabh Bachchan underwent CT scan, ultra sound test and a series of blood tests to ascertain the cause of the abdominal pain. The hospital sources said doctors are conducting a series of tests on the film star and he was responding positively.
Confirming fears that there was more to Amitabh Bachchan’s abdominal pains, the icon underwent a successful operation on Wednesday evening at the Leelavati hospital. Among those who visited Bachchan were industrialist Anil Ambani, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Sahara Group Chairman Subroto Roy, followed by film stars Salman Khan, Suniel Shetty and Sanjay Dutt.
Most of the onlookers were drawing parallels between today's surgery and the one he had undergone after suffering near fatal injuries in a fire accident during the shoot of `Coolie' in Bangalore in 1982. Reports said the actor was suffering from complications arising from an old wound sustained by the actor during the shooting of “Coolie” 23 years ago. Then Amitabh had to undergo 14 incisions on his stomach and was in coma for three days before making a miraculous recovery.
