Sania Mirza defeated Laura Granville 6-3, 7-5 in the 2nd round at the US open to advance. Sania will now face sixth seeded Russian Anna Chakvetadze. Anna has defeated Sania 3 times already this year at the Hobart semi-final, Cincinnati semi-final and final at Stanford respectivily and has already won four tournaments this year. This will be a good test for Sania.

Sania Mirza won her first round match against Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-2, 6-7 (5/7), 6-1 to advance to the second round at the US Open tennis championships being played in Flushing Meadows, New York. Sania will face 60th ranked American Laura Granville in the second round. Sania had her best Grand Slam showing back in 2006 US Open where she advanced to round of 16 and was defeated by Maria Sharapova of Russia.

US computer maker Gateway to be acquired by Taiwan personal computer supplier, Acer, for $710 million. This will put Acer past the Lenovo Group Ltd. as the world's third-biggest PC maker.

Google maybe close to the launch of it's phone service. The mobile phone is called gPhone and is awaiting final ok and carrier agreement before it launch. Recently there was news that Google may be interested in bidding on spectrum. Lets see if Google will lauch the gPhone?

The case involves hunting of two black bucks back in September 28, 1998 while he was shooting for Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Sania and her Italian partner Mara Santagelo won their doubles match to advance to quarterfinals in women's doubles after defeating American Corina Morariu and Meghann Shaughnessy 6-4, 7-5.

Dubai World invest in MGM Mirage

Dubai World, investment holding firm of the Dubai government, announced that it has agreed to invest up to $5.2 billion in MGM Mirage. The deal will involve Dubai World purchasing 9.5 percent stake in MGM for about $2.4 billion and will invest about $2.7 billion, a 50 percent stake in MGM's CityCenter project. Which is a 76-acre Las Vegas development project that includes hotels, condos and retail outlets and s due to open in 2009.

Sania Mirza is now ranked 28th in the WTA singles rankings and has been seeded 26th at the US Open. The US Open will start next week in New York and will have Indian tennis player Sania Mirza ranked 26th at the US Open. The top male seed is Roger Federer and top female seed is Justine Henin, who are both also ranked No 1 in the world.

Hurricane Dean is heading towards Tulum, Mexico which has forced many tourists to flee the vacation location and beaches of the Mayan Riviera. Petroleos de Mexico, a Mexico's state oil company, will be evacuating more then 14,000 offshore workers. Cancun's international airport was busy with many tourists waiting to get flights to head out.

This past weekend Amitabh Bachchan was present at the Lincoln Center to recites poem's written by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were also present at the event.
The following day, Indian's had organized a parade to celebrate India's 60th independence anniversary. Priyanka Chopra was the grand marshal for the parade. Astronaut Sunita Williams, comedian Johnny Lever were also present at the parade that was organized by Federation of Indian Associations (FIA). The parade was held along Madison Avenue from 41st Street to 23th Street in Manhattan.

Jenna and Henry having been dating for a while and Henry was present at White House dinner for Britain's Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall back on November 2005. He has an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and will soon be returning to college to pruse a business administration at the University of Virginia.

Wipro, an India-based software company, has expanded it's wings through a $600 million acquisition of Infocrossing, United States based infrastructure management services provider based in Leonia, N.J. This will give Wipro presence in the US to allow it to meet customers needs for data center that must be located within US. The acquisition is one of the largest by an Indian IT company in the USA.

The Madame Tussauds museum has locations in London, Amsterdam, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Shanghai and are soon opening one in Washington, DC.

Sanjay Dutt has been sentenced to six years imprisonment by a special TADA court for illegal possession of weapons in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. He was convicted under the Arms Act and was taken into custody. He has already served 16 months in jail back in 1994.
