Indian Idol 3: September 23, 2007: The Winner Announced
09/23/2007:
It was announced that Prashant Tamang from Darjeeling got the most votes and will be crowned the Indian Idol 3, winner beating his friend Amit Paul for the title of Indian Idol 3. Prashant is Kolkata constable from Darjeeling and received more then seven crore votes. Prashant total the show with his singing of Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen from the Hindi film Baazigar. While Amit sang Duma Dum Mast Kalandar. Bollywood actor John Abraham announced Tamang the winner.
Prashant is a good singer but Amit is a much better overall singer and should have won the Indian Idol title. This show has turned into not finding the best Indian Idol but who can get more votes. Prashant had the big backing of his state and his fellow collegees which have lifted him to the title of Indian Idol over Amit.
I feel they should change the voting for Indian Idol in the future to avoid such one sideness for a contentants.
What are your thought on this?

Yes I totally agree, the Indian Idol race just turns into a vote race in the end.Amit is obviosly a much much better singer, performer and carries it all, while Prashant is just an average performer with an average voice but a very high backing and probably got a lot of sympathy votes.I live in the US and was very much looking forward to seeing it tonight but am totally going to not watch it now since i know that Prashant won which i think is totally biased and unfair.

If we are going to start deciding who should be the best singer through the public votes then very soon the Bollywood film industry will be on its knees. Judging the professional singer is better to leave with the music professional rather than the ordinary public who probably don’t even understand the true meaning of ‘Sangeet’.
We are utterly disappointed and would like to scrap the public voting especially towards the final stages of the competition. Sarosh & Tahreem Khan

i think india chose the rite person to be the indian idol, there's no doubt that prashant is a talented singer plus a great human being. we need such people to idolize our nation and refer to them as our idols. i think all the people from the corners of india has chosen him to be the bharat ki saan. so, there's no use of arguing with janta's judgement afterall we have our idols already declared.cheers to prashant and amit. after all they both said no matter who wins they are both winners. thank you.

My wife and I have watched this show quite religiously right from the very beginning of Indian Idol 3. I have been utterly and shamefully disappointed with the final result. Anyone who has slightest appreciation of good singing talent would agree that Prashant is no where close to be crowned as an Indian Idol. This show should either be stopped or the executive producers should calmly sit and re-define more efficient voting and selection framework that would result in fairly and justly selecting the one truly deserving of this title. I hope the next Indian Idol show wouldn't suck as much as this one!

it is so sad that indian idol race has turned into a vote race. Amit Paul deserved the title of indian idol more than anyone else. it is a heart breaking fact that Amit Paul has not won, but to me and my entire family, AMIT PAUL is OUR IDOL. and i'm sure he will have a splendid career. Amit Paul will be much more successful than Prashant in hindi film industry.

This has happened for the 2nd time in a row when a more talented singer has been voted out... Last year it was Karunya and this yea it was unfortunatly Amit Paul who has a better voice, better stage presence... bohoo to all ppl who've voted the right person out!!!

I am happy that Prashant got this far but I really dont think he is IDOL material.Amit Paul would have most definitely made the best Indian Idol so far.

Prashant has very rightly been selected as the idol as he has never been in the danger zone during the galas and Amit have even been eliminated before the galas . So prashant has always been in the hearts while Amit has just touched the Ears of India. So India is right.

I always thought that Emon was much better right from the beginning. He is borne singer and can sing any number poerfectly without any effort and very easily. The ease with which he was singingI think went against him and he got an image of a bit of a casual singer. He is young and with great talent. He has great future as a singer. I am his gretaest fan.

I love Amit , right from the begining.Anikita and Emon are also good singers and performers. But I Amit is tooooooooooooo good.it is true , he cannot dance as well as prashant and prashant was a better stage performer , but amit is a better singer and he deserved it.He really did.

The concept behind Indian Idol or American idol is same, that is to choose a person by voting who is capable of winning the heart of every people of his country through his/her performance and modest attitude towards the life. As singing is the most deciding factor I found both Prahant Tamang and Amit Paul are good singer and could achieve great heights in music industry in future if they try hard and in my opinion Amit Paul sing from his throat and Prashant Tamang sings from his soul. I wish both of them Good Luck.

Amit or Prashant. Prashant or Amit.
One may be a very good singer worthy of winning the Indian Idol, but if one lapses in the very moment of performance (by forgetting the lyric), he shouldn't be expected to win. That's what happened to Amit.

Well the comments of most of the bloggers seems to be coloured by the bias shown against Prashant by the judges and the anchors from the very begining of the show. As such their judgement were influenced by the comments of these people so much so that I felt as if these people are not living in the 21st Century but in the medieval period when people believed (forced to?)in obscurantism, with no scientific temper.
In all fairness, Amit though is a very good singer but Prashant is better and that is why he has been chosen as Indian Idol 3. If u were so die hard Amit fans why did u not vote wholeheartedly for Amit. Plssssssssss do not shed crocodile’s tear when everything is past..
These bumps simply fail to read through the fact.

I AM HAPPY THAT PRASHANT BECAME AN INDIAN IDOL . I LIKED AMIT PAUL TOO BUT HIS LAST PERFORMANCES WEREN'T GOOD. HE GOT MANY CHANCES ..HE GOT SELECTED THROUGH THE WILD CARD ... HE FORGOT HIS LYRICS TWICE . JUDGES LIKE ALISHA AND JAVED FAVOURED AMIT ALL THE TIME AND ALISHA NEVER POINTED OUT AMIT'S MISTAKE .SHE WAS SO PARTIAL .PRASHANT HAD TO SURVIVE THROUGH ALL SORTS OF CRAP STARTING FROM RICHA ... MAN ... I AM HAPPY FOR PRASHANT ... HE IS A SURVIVOR. HE ROCKS !! HE ROCKED THE DELHI CROWED WITH HIS SONGS ... HE IS VERY HARD WORKING AND HE ACTUALLY EARNED THAT TITLE THROUGH HIS HARD WORK . U GO PRASHANT ...

in my opinion indion idol change the system of voting coz last time karunia deserve bt he waz not n thz time amit deserve n he iz not.in my opinion parshant iz average singer instead of parshant Deepali n Emon r much better singerz but itz ok if amit win coz he iz superb singer.Itz totaly unfair.if v believe on voting system next thn thz industry com on knees vry soon.probably public dont under stand mean of sangeet so thatz y thz result occurs so should be change votng system.
