Bandra-Worli Sea Link Open
Sonia Gandhi , the head of the ruling Congress party, cut the ribbon to officially open the bridge to connect western suburbs of Bandra to Worli. The bridge took nine years of construction at cost of more then $400m. The bridge is over the Arabian Sea and has eight lanes and promised to reduce the travel time from 45 minutes to less then 10 minutes. The first of its kind in the country, the 5.6 km link was conceived in the 1990s. The two central towers that soar above the sea will change the city’s iconic skyline.
