Apple iPad In India

Starting Friday January 28 2011, Apple iPad will be avaliable in India at the price of 27,990. Currently the iPad (16 GB, wi-fi only) has been selling at Rs 33,000 in the grey market and on online stores. In less than a year from being launched (January 27, 2010, it has sold nearly 15 million units, making it the fastest selling gadget ever. The rumor also is that iPad 2 will be coming out in a couple of months, maybe with some new features like dual cameras, a higher resolution 'retina' display and a faster processor. Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have been selling micro SIM cards (for 3G versions) while BSNL has announced 3G plans specifically for the iPad. Currently the iPad is avaliable in six versions: memory of 16, 32 or 64GB, Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi plus 3G. The 16GB WiFi only version will be priced at Rs 27,990 while the top model, 64GB WiFi plus 3G version will be priced at Rs 44,990.
