“The Rising”: Aishwarya Rai wrongly mentioned in cast

HINDI film star Aamir Khan’s latest venture, “The Rising”, is being sold to British audiences with the assurance that it features reigning Hindi film queen, Aishwarya Rai, but she had declined when the makers refused to give her more than a bare outline of her character and plot.

`The Rising" depicts India’s first uprising against British rule in 1857.

The film’s leading stars are Aamir Khan, Toby Stephens, Rani Mukherjee and Amisha Patel.

Actress Rai to kick off polio campaign

Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai has been invited to kick-start a campaign of immunisation against polio in Pakistan.

The Indian actress is acting as ambassadors for the polio campaign. Functions will be held in Pakistan and India highlighting the need to wipe out the disease. Rai and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan are high-profile ambassadors for the anti-polio campaign, appearing in TV and print advertisments.
