International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) event has officially begun in Dubai from 14 June and will continue till 17 June. IIFA awards which are deemed as the Indian equivalent of Oscars will showcase 32 Indian feature films including sixteen Hindi films, fourteen south Indian films, one Bengali, one Marathi and six short films. The IIFA awards were started back in 2000 and it was first held in London. Since then it has been held twice in South Africa and once in Malaysia, Singapore and the Netherlands and now in Dubai.
