Sania Mirza is seeded number one in a WTA event making her the first Indian tennis star to have such a seeding. She has been out with a knee injury, which she suffered a ligament injury while playing in the Qatar Open in Doha back in , in February 2007. She is making a comeback at the Morroco Open. She has teamed up with American Vania King for the doubles competition. Her next stop will be playing in Istanbul, followed by Birmingham, and Holland to get her prepared for Wimbledon.
Neha Uberoi is another Indian who is taking part in the open and will play with Italian Silvia Disderi in the doubles competition.
